Kylie looked downstairs to see where the noise came from. He chased it out an open window, knocking over the boom box in the process. Slimer flew into the room with a snack and saw a worm hovering above Garrett. As Garrett was bumped into, the demon cackled. He looked around and all the players were now in wheelchairs. Garrett was shocked he was issued the warning. The referee was the same demon from Frankie's dream. A referee blew his whistle and warned Garrett. As Garrett, the crowd, and cheerleaders cheered, a player from the opposition team walked up behind Garrett and shoved him to the floor. He stole the ball and scored a total of 103 points.

Garrett fell asleep on the couch and dreamed about playing in the NBA. Sherman's latest tirade was about the New York Knicks' losing record. Garrett cheered on Sherman while Kylie walked upstairs. The airplane hit a dial on a boom box on the shelf and Sherman's show came on. Garrett joked he was doing the "Zen thing," write the paper by not writing the paper. Kylie read a book while Garrett tossed a paper airplane. Garrett and Kylie took to the rec room in the Firehouse. After the Ghostbusters stepped out of Frankie's room, Eduardo elected Kylie and Garrett for the graveyard shift. Kylie reiterated there was no evidence of supernatural activity. The wife was bewildered at the lack of any real, concrete answers. He noted it was an unusual case but admitted he saw a lot of it lately. A doctor arrived and revealed Frankie suffered fractures caused by abnormally strong muscle contractions that occurred during a nocturnal seizure. Kylie made it clear she wasn't a fan of Sherman. The clock on the nightstand read out 12 am.įrankie was remanded to Memorial Hospital. She saw lesions all over Frankie's body and panicked. The worm detached and flew off without her seeing it. The man's wife woke up from the rustling. The man, Frankie, struggled in his sleep. A floating worm was attached to the man's forehead with a tentacle. A giant envelope monster rose up and attacked the man. The manager, a demon, asked if that meant he needed to hire a younger man to do the job better. The man assured his manager he was doing the best job that he could. A large pile suddenly filed down on his desk. A man sorted through mail in a postal facility. A vicious culture war did not ensue over which Ghostbusting unit was better, the original gang or the newfangled quartet of college-aged youngsters. An obnoxious radio host named Barry Sherman started his broadcast talking about a factory worker going violent. We didn’t freak the fuck out because someone changed something we loved as children. In other words, we had the right attitude about Ghostbusters back then. Extreme Ghostbusters failed a lot more quietly than the Ghostbusters reboot, in part because it didn’t have some of the worst dudes on the internet not just loudly rooting against it but actively campaigning for it to fail for political reasons.
#EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS EDUARDO TV#
A TV cartoon is simply not as big a deal as a two-hundred million dollar movie. The stakes were also different and lower. It was still possible to see Ghostbusters as just a goddamn movie. Ghostbusters was not yet thought of as sacrosanct, sacred, holy. Gamergate had not yet weaponized the anger, sexism and resentment of sexist male gamers and geeks into a potent political and cultural force. Egon Spengler (once again voiced by Maurice LeMarche) returns as the world’s brainiest spook-stopper only in The Extreme Ghostbusters Egon is primarily a mentor figure to a brand new batch of ghostbusters that can only be described as extreme.
#EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS EDUARDO SERIES#
I was right only in the sense that technically speaking, Extreme Ghostbusters is a sequel series to The Real Ghostbusters. But I guess I assumed that the cartoon was The Real Ghostbusters under a different name that followed the continuing adventures of original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore in the years following Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II and The Real Ghostbusters. I half-remembered hearing about it at the time of its release, in 1997, my first year of writing about pop culture professionally. Yesterday my four year old son Declan said that he wanted to watch “ Ghostbusters, but not too scary.” So I dutifully entered “Ghostbusters” into Amazon’s search engine and encountered a 1990s cartoon called Extreme Ghostbusters.
